Rabbits hold a most special place in my
heart, and for as long as I can remember, they always have. In 1992,
beautiful "Bunny," my very first House Rabbit, came into my life, and
I've been a
rabbit parent ever since. Each one, in their own way, has taught me so
much about love, friendship, kindness, trust, bravery, and simply being
thankful for each and every moment.
While shopping for my own bunnies over the years, I noticed that there was always a plethora of wonderful toys and products for dogs and cats, but things were somewhat lacking in the rabbit department. While there were a few companies making great things for rabbits, as a graphic designer I felt inspired to create special items specifically for rabbits and people who love them. In November 2005, 24 Carrot Lane was born and I began work on the creation of Bunny's Magic Dream Cottage.
Our mission is to provide safe, high quality products that will improve the lives of companion rabbits, and enrich the friendship and bond between rabbits and their guardians. We promote and advocate education on responsible rabbit guardianship, in hopes that over time we can help to reduce the number of rabbits that are surrendered to shelters. It is also our goal to help rabbits in need. Therefore, each year a portion of our profits shall be donated to rabbit rescue organizations.
In 2007 we proclaimed the first annual Worldwide Rabbit Love + Appreciation Day, to be observed and celebrated on August 24th each year, meant to give rabbit parents and advocates a day to raise awareness on rabbit issues, and a day to celebrate rabbits. Every spring, we hold a Haiku Poetry Contest for our customers in honor of our beloved friend, Goodwill Ambassador and Chief Product Inspector, Haiku.
In February 2008, our article Cute Bunny, Big Responsibility was published in the Alameda Sun , a local newspaper in the San Francisco Bay Area. The article is meant to educate and inform the public on why it is not a good idea to give live rabbits to children at Easter time, as well as what to consider before bringing a rabbit home as a companion pet at any time of the year.
Our products are designed and manufactured in beautiful, sunny California, and we use only recycled cardboard and rabbit-safe, lab-tested, water-based inks for our bunny cottages. All greeting cards are printed on acid-free recycled paper. Each item we create must win Haiku's "two paws up" official bunny stamp of approval before it is available to the rest of the rabbit world.
